Coffee plays a central role in the Brickhouse process, so when Yellowstone Coffee Roasters asked us to help rebrand them, we were excited to begin by sampling their excellent roasts.
For decades, Yellowstone Coffee Roasters has been completely and utterly devoted to producing the best quality coffee possible. From sourcing the best organic and rainforest friendly beans from family-owned farms to small batch roasting for outstanding flavor, there’s no one more serious about their coffee than Yellowstone Coffee Roasters.

The situation, however, was that their existing brand—which featured an illustration of Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone Park—conveyed a sense of 'souvenir' rather than serious. Yes, they sold quite a few bags of coffee in the Park and its gateway communities, YCR ownership felt that this disconnect just didn’t fit their company philosophy.
Our challenge was to reposition the brand to compete with other more ‘serious’ coffees, but without completely losing the outdoorsy appeal. After all, they have been in Montana for decades, and there was value to that, too. There was also the need to be able to produce labels in small quantities, and customizable, due to their endless numbers of beans and blends.

The end result is a more refined packaging, with bold type and clean lines, yet still warm and friendly. They are seeing an increase in sales with the new branding, and are better positioned for growth into the future. We were also glad to win a Silver Addy at the American Advertising Awards of Montana in the category of Consumer Packaging for the coffee bag design. But perhaps even more rewarding, we’re given plenty of free samples to keep us powering along.
