David moved to Montana in 1993 a few years after having tracked down an English degree from Bates College (it's in Maine). He had fallen for Montana while a fishing guide at one of the country's top guest ranches in the mid 80's, called Elk Canyon Ranch (White Sulphur Springs, MT).

 

When he first moved to Bozeman, David sold and planned upscale fly fishing and hunting trips as head of The Sportsman's Desk with Off the Beaten Path, a custom travel company.

 

He left OBP in 1998, working independently on trip planning, copywriting, and consulting—officially launching Brickhouse in 2000.

 

Besides working his day job as Brickhouse's boss/creative director/copywriter/wine taster/foosball champion, David has published a number of outdoor photos, writes on occasion for a few magazines, and has written Top 10 songs for his bluegrass band Kane's River. He has also co-produced and played on two nationally-acclaimed albums called Fishing Music, and produced an award-winning music video for one of the songs.

 

David has also co-produced two deceptively cute daughters (a collaboration with wife Molly) and endeavors to teach them how to row his drift boat in an effort to increase his fly fishing hours.
